They must be not only beautiful, but also functional. Modern sliding structures have a number of unique qualities.

Their advantages include:

  • Saving living space
  • No box or need to install it
  • Installation can be done by yourself
  • Wear resistance
  • Aesthetic appeal

Among the main disadvantages are:

  • Poor insulation properties - it is not possible to completely get rid of noise, light, kitchen odors using sliding systems
  • The need for a free wall or niche inside the wall to move the sashes
  • Cost - retractable ones are several times more expensive than hinged analogues

The balance of advantages and disadvantages is determined by the type of door, the selected sliding system, the material from which the structure is made, as well as the installation method.

Types of sliding doors and installation features

All sliding structures are divided into 3 groups:

  1. Harmonic
  2. Book
  3. Slider

Accordion door

The product consists of vertical lamellas, movably fastened together. The first strip goes to the opening, the rest move on rollers along the top rail and are then collected in a stack. The need to leave an entire wall free when choosing an accordion disappears - this is its main advantage.

Sliding doors accordion is suitable for covering small openings.

Book door

Structurally similar to an accordion, but in the basic configuration it has only 2 blades. They are connected to each other by loops. One of the panels is attached to the jamb of the opening, and the second moves along the guide using a roller. The use of books requires a certain space in front of the opening.

Slider

Universal, suitable for anyone interior space, come in various sizes. Types of sliders include:

  • Cassette - sliding interior in the wall, the doors of which are hidden in special niches. Cavities are installed at the time of construction or renovation, but can be made of drywall as an extension of the wall. Wherein overall size the room will lose at least 10 cm
  • Hanging - the doors move only on the top rail, and the door is protected from vertical loosening by a flag roller. It fits into a special groove made in the lower end of the sash or a U-shaped lower guide attached to the bottom of the leaf. This is often installed, which reduces overall costs
  • Compartment - the canvas moves along the wall along the upper and lower guides. If the bottom rail is placed on the floor, a threshold is required to insulate it. The gutter can be recessed into the floor, but then more dirt will collect in it
  • Cascade is a system, the doors of which are connected to each other and, using a special mechanism, slide apart one after another automatically
  • Radius - capable of closing round openings, but not arched ones
  • Automatic - expensive designs equipped with electric drives and sensors

When we're talking about When talking about sliding doors, sliders are most often meant.

Dimensions

To cover openings, not only single-leaf, but also multi-leaf products are used. More often than others, sliding double-leaf or single-leaf doors are installed in apartments.

When choosing a canvas, it is necessary to take into account the width and height of the opening, as well as its depth and wall material, if there is a desire to install a cassette option.

The following standards should be followed:

  • Sash width = opening width + 8 cm
  • Sash height = opening height + 4 cm

If the door is double-leaf, then the “leaf width” parameter means the overall width of the two leaves. Standard sizes manufactured products have a height from 200 to 210 cm, and a width from 60 to 90 cm. Non-standard products are made to order.

Standard equipment

The type, weight, as well as the installation method determine what equipment the sliding systems have:

  • Door - leaf or panels, if necessary frame with trim
  • Top rail
  • Bottom rail and bottom guide if necessary
  • Roller system – 2 pcs. for suspended structure weighing up to 70 kg; 4 pcs for coupe
  • Stoppers – 2 pcs – are placed on the upper guide to limit the travel of the blade
  • Flag roller – 1 piece – attached to the floor to limit vertical loosening of the sash
  • Accessories – top decor panel, handle, lock

Price

Its cost depends on what material it is made of. The most affordable are plastic sliding interior doors, and the most expensive are glass ones, the manufacturing technology of which involves the use of tempered glass, or from valuable wood. Accordion doors are cheaper than sliders.

The minimum price of a sliding single-leaf door is in rubles:

  • Blind plastic accordion – 1900
  • Glazed plastic accordion – 2600
  • – 4300
  • Glazed laminated book – 5800
  • Sliding door laminated chipboard – 3500
  • Veneered hanging door – 7500
  • Glass hanging door – 13000
  • Suspended structure made of solid wood – 20,000
  • Blind cassette system – 20,000

Installing a single-leaf door will cost 3,000 rubles, and a double-leaf door will cost 5,000 rubles.

Reduce acquisition costs sliding structures You can if you make sliding interior doors with your own hands and install them yourself.

Sliding door installation

If you install a system of sliding interior doors yourself, then the required set of tools and materials depends on the type of structure and installation method. Before proceeding with installation, read the entire instructions.

Harmonic

A special feature of the installation is the fastening of the structure to the side of the opening. The surface must be smooth and have the required strength margin. Further work is carried out in the following order:

  1. Completely assemble the panel, if accordion-type interior sliding doors were purchased in the form of slats - connect them together, secure the side locking and fixing panels, insert the rollers, install magnetic lock. If necessary, the lamellas must be shortened using a hacksaw: lamella height = opening height – 40 mm
  2. Prepare the top guide - its length is equal to the width of the opening, as well as the side ones - they are made shorter than the height of the opening by 25 mm
  3. Install locks for the guide on the top (every 5-7 cm) and side (every 12-15 cm) sections of the opening
  4. Place the canvas on the upper guide, snap the entire structure onto installed locks first from above and then from the side

Required tool:

  • Drill or hammer drill
  • Hacksaw for metal
  • Screwdriver
  • Tape measure, level, plumb line

Hanging system

The hanging system for sliding doors is installed on the wall or ceiling. For ceiling mounting, you can use a mortise guide, but such work is long and difficult to do.

You can install sliding doors on rollers on the wall with your own hands using a block or corners. If there is no plinth, then you can put it on the corners. If there is a plinth between the floor and the wall, then a block is used:

  1. Put the opening in order - remove the old door and frame, level the surfaces, seal the cracks, install a new frame or false frame, if provided for by the design, but do not foam the cracks, but use only wedges and spacers for a strong fixation
  2. Place the canvas against the opening, then draw a line on top
  3. Set aside 7 cm from the line upward - this is where the beam with the upper guide will be located
  4. Attach special fasteners for the sliding system to the upper end of the door
  5. Install mortise handle at a distance of 3-3.5 cm from the cut
  6. Saw off the beam: length of the beam = 2 x (width of the blade) + 5 cm
  7. Every 40 cm, drill holes in it through which it will be attached to the wall, and secure its lower cut above the drawn line
  8. Drill holes in the guide and attach it to the beam
  9. Thread the rollers into the rail
  10. Place the prepared fabric on the rollers and fix it temporarily
  11. Check the smoothness of movement, as well as the gap between the floor and the canvas (6 mm), the canvas and the wall (up to 5 mm)
  12. Mark on the floor a place for the flag roller at a distance of 3-5 cm from the door when closed (inside the opening)
  13. Remove the door and install the lower roller
  14. Place the door on the flag roller, connect it to the rollers installed in the upper rail, secure the fixing nuts with a hexagon
  15. Install door travel stops in the top rail
  16. Fill the cracks, put on a decorative cornice and nail the trims

If the rollers do not have a special groove at the bottom for the flag roller, then you can cut it out yourself or install a U-shaped profile on the end, adjusting the mounting height of the entire structure.

Required tool:

  • Drill or hammer drill
  • Hacksaw
  • Hammer
  • Hexagon
  • Chisel
  • Screwdriver
  • Tape measure, level, plumb line

Sliding door

Installing the bottom rail and additional pair roller mechanisms– these are the features of installing a hanging sliding door. Work order:

  1. Install the bottom rail, one edge of which extends 5 cm beyond the opening. It can be recessed into the floor or placed on top
  2. Attach the rollers to the lower edge of the web
  3. Insert the door into the bottom rail
  4. Make markings for installing timber
  5. Install the beam and the upper guide, insert the rollers into it
  6. Attach the top fastener to the canvas
  7. Hang the door on the upper rollers, lift the lower rollers and insert them into the chute
  8. Adjust the smoothness of the ride, secure the roller structure

The coupe type is carried out with the same tools as in the previous case. If the sash is too heavy weight, then you need to install it with an assistant. During the installation work control of verticality and horizontality is mandatory and carried out constantly.

To isolate a room inside an apartment or house, builders use a door. It is especially important to install interior designs in bedrooms, children's rooms, sanitary rooms, kitchens and offices.

An interior door can be sliding or hinged, and each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. The swing model consists of a box to which the canvas is attached using hinges. To open or close a door, you need to move the loose part of the sash away from you or towards you.

One of the disadvantages of this design is that it requires extra space.

The sliding door does not have this drawback. It is equipped with a sash that moves along runners, opening or closing the passage. To fasten and move the panel, a roller is used, which is fixed to the door.

Sliding interior system

Standard sliding structure

The kit includes the following elements:

  • A leaf or sash for opening and closing an opening;
  • Upper runner for hanging the sash and guiding it along the opening when moving;
  • The bottom rail, complete with a guide, is designed to allow the roller to move along it when the sash moves;
  • Video clip. The number of parts depends on the weight of the sash. If the canvas is not heavier than 70 kg, then two are enough; if more, four are used;
  • The stoppers are designed to prevent the roller from flying out of the runners when opening. The kit includes two stoppers that are inserted into the top runner.
  • The flag roller is designed to prevent the panel from loosening vertically if only the top rail is used;
  • Accessories. This applies to door knob, decorative panel for closing the top runner, lock.

Attention! The fittings for a sliding structure differ from those for a swing door.

However, depending on the type, the sliding structure can be equipped with several runners and sashes.

Advantages and disadvantages of a sliding structure

Advantages:

  • no additional opening space required;
  • the canvas opens easily, moving along the rollers;
  • there is a possibility of automation of control;
  • installation can be done by yourself;
  • beauty and aesthetics of the design.
  • the door has poor heat and sound insulation;
  • the cost of a sliding structure is higher than a swing structure;
  • You cannot install furniture close to the wall in the area of movement of the sash.

Types of sliding structures

  • harmonic;
  • book;
  • slider.

The “accordion” and “book” doors consist of lamellas, the first of which is attached to the opening. When the sliding structure is opened, the slats move along the runners and are assembled in the form of an accordion. The rail is designed to hold and guide the slat carriages.

The “book” door differs from the “accordion” in that it consists of two slats, while the accordion has 3-7 of them.

The sliding door is a sliding type of product and is available in the following types:

  • coupe;
  • cassette;
  • radius;
  • cascading

The cassette system consists of a cassette that is mounted into the wall. The canvas hides in it when opened. If the door is double-leaf, then the cassettes are installed in both walls.

The radius door is equipped with curved runners around the circumference. The canvas moves along it when the structure is opened or closed. This type of door requires more free space to operate compared to other types.

Cascade or telescopic door has more than two doors that move on several runners. It is usually used as a sliding partition.

Sliding door

Depending on the model, this design has one or two doors. The canvas moves along the wall along guide runners. The sash is made of tempered glass, wood, plastic, chipboard and other materials or a combination thereof.

The frame is made of durable aluminum profile or MDF covered with veneer. Due to the light weight and moisture resistance of the aluminum sliding structure, the sliding door can be used in any premises, including high humidity. In addition to frame structures, the door can also be produced in a frameless version.

Installation of runners is carried out only at the top or at the top and bottom. For smooth movement, the structure is equipped with a roller. To guide the carriage as it moves, runners or a profile are used.

The roller, or rather its wheels, is made of high-strength rubberized plastic, Teflon, steel, aluminum or rubber. The roller is equipped with a sealed bearing for smooth and easy rotation of the wheels.

Attention! The performance of the structure depends on the quality of this element, since the roller bears the main load when the sash moves.

If you plan to install the profile at the top and bottom, then the roller is also mounted at the top and bottom of the panel. The upper part looks different from the lower one. When the lower roller is used, it bears the entire mechanical load, and the upper one acts as a supporting element. To increase the softness and smoothness of the ride, the lower roller is equipped with a shock-absorbing spring.

Installation of a sliding single-leaf wooden structure

Let's look at how to install slider-type interior doors using the example of a common single-leaf coupe model.

To quickly and efficiently complete the installation, you need to prepare a minimum set of tools before starting work. It includes:

  • electric drill and feather drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • wood hacksaw (if the blade is wooden);
  • hammer;
  • hardware (screws, anchors);
  • water level;
  • construction tape;
  • hammer drill (if a bottom rail is installed, which directs the movement of the carriage).

Stage 1. Preparatory

Prepare interior opening. Large cracks and potholes are plastered. Level the vertical and horizontal sides of the opening using plaster mixtures. Be sure to check verticality and horizontality using building level so that the installation of the sliding structure is carried out correctly.

Stage 2. Box installation

If the door requires the use of a frame, then it is installed. The box for the sliding structure is convenient to assemble in a horizontal position. The length of the vertical bars must correspond to the height of the opening. If it is larger, then cut off the excess using a jigsaw or hacksaw.

The finished system is inserted into the opening and aligned horizontally and vertically.

Stage 3. Installation of the top runner

The rail or runner, which is mounted at this stage, holds the sash and guides the roller as it moves. If the sliding door is installed in the opening plasterboard partition, then the rail is mounted on a wooden beam.

A wooden beam with a cross-section of 5 × 5 cm is applied to the drawn line and screwed with self-tapping screws. Installation is carried out so that the underside of the plank is located along the outlined line. The length is taken equal to the width of the sash, multiplied by 2. One half of the beam is installed above the opening, and then it continues towards the opening of the sash.

The beam must be fixed strictly horizontally, otherwise the door will not work correctly. For example, the sash can open or close spontaneously.

The timber may not be used if the sliding structure is installed to the entire height of the room. In this case, the rail is attached directly to the ceiling. The timber is fixed using anchors.

The runner is attached to the beam with bottom side. A small gap is left between it and the wall so that the door opens freely.

Attention! If the sliding structure is heavy, it is recommended to use a rail at the top and bottom.

For the lower runner, which should guide the carriage, a groove is selected in the floor using a hammer drill.

Stage 4. Mounting the carriage and hanging the sliding panel

If the door is wooden, then holes are drilled along the edges of the upper end of the panel in order to later install brackets in this place to which the roller will be fixed. The bracket must be placed strictly in the middle with a distance from the edge of the end of at least 2 mm. When assembling, guide the brackets with semicircular cutouts towards the wall.

A feather drill is used to make holes. You can install the brackets using self-tapping screws.

The sliding structure carriage is pre-assembled, a roller is inserted into it and the adjusting bolt is screwed into it, but not completely.

Check how smoothly the roller (both right and left) moves along the runner. When checking, the roller should not be additionally lubricated. Next, travel limiters are installed along the edges of the runners. The fittings are installed on the door (the handle and lock are inserted into the door leaf).

Now the sash of the sliding structure is slightly raised above the floor. The bolt of the left and right carriage is inserted alternately into the bracket screwed to the door.

A roller is inserted into the rail after inserting it into the hole of the plates. Using an adjusting bolt, the sash is adjusted in height. After the canvas is placed on required height, the bolt is tightened and the roller is fixed in the desired position.

If the door moves only along the upper runner, then to prevent the door leaf from moving when moving horizontally, a flag roller is attached to the floor.

So that the door can be placed on this roller (flag, knife), a groove is made in the lower end part of the sash, slightly deeper than the dimensions of the flag. The door is placed on top of the flag roller. In this case, he will direct the door along the line of its movement.

Installation of glass sliding structure

If the door is glass, then the sash fastening is somewhat different.

To install the roller on the door, special type carriages are used. They have metal clamps, made in the form of cheeks, between which glass is attached.

Stage 5. Installation of decorative elements for sliding structures

The last stage of work is the installation of platbands, frame extensions and a decorative panel that covers the top rail.

How to properly install an interior sliding door of the slider type is shown in the video.

Sliding design selection

When selecting, pay attention to what length and width the door should have. Standard door sizes: 200-210 cm in height and 60-90 cm in width. If you have a non-standard doorway, then the height is calculated using the formula: the height of the opening plus 8-10 cm, and 4-5 cm is added to the width.

Sliding doors are a relatively new, but already popular solution for interior design. Their key advantage is the space saving achieved by opening/closing them in one plane. The freed up area reaches 1 m2, which is ideal for small spaces.

Sophistication and originality

Such settings are wonderful for those who wish to differentiate interior decoration without special financial costs. The structures consist of movable and stationary or only fixed modules, and their filler is “hardened”. The sashes are attached to the suspension and slide in different directions from the opening, thereby freeing up space. TO positive properties relate:

  • 1. Uniqueness and beauty. This scheme allows you to produce original products that look very attractive and beautiful.

  • 2. Durability and safety. The hardened sheets from which the doors are made are resistant to any mechanical stress. If for some reason they are damaged, they scatter into many small pieces that will not cause harm to human health.

  • 3. Environmental friendliness. The material does not contain harmful components or impurities.

  • 4. Reduced energy costs. Glass sheets allow a sufficient amount of sunlight, causing buildings to become lighter.

  • 5. Versatility. Sliding doors harmoniously complement residential and public interiors made in any style: from classic to high-tech.

Where is it used?

Offers several lines, including the Slider sliding system with sliding doors, which is well suited for office buildings and residential buildings. It fits well into the style, and the space is filled with lightness and air. In addition, it serves as an excellent tool for zoning - dividing one large room to smaller areas.

The recommended set is used not only for the manufacture of partitions, but also for glazing verandas, terraces, balconies and loggias, and allows for any configuration, for example: one or two segments, which are completed with a third panel fixed in place. All-glass sections are transparent, matte, colored, decorated with stained glass, sandblasting or photo printing.

Peculiarities

The main component of the set is a guide profile that is suspended from the ceiling or steel element building structure. Roller carriages are fixed in its groove, on the brackets of which the shutters or part of the translucent fences are fixed. As they move, the rollers move the modules behind them. This mechanics has the following advantages:

  • 1. The panels become resistant to bending caused by their own weight.

  • 2. Not required door frame and can be mounted anywhere.

  • 3. Sliding structures belong to closed type, which involves masking profile and roller mechanisms with a stylish cover. This helps to integrate them into existing decoration, as well as save money on purchase.

Equipment

The design of interior partitions and “Slider” doors is carried out using fittings, including:

  • 1. Power track without anode, 33.8 mm wide and 40.6 mm high. Maximum length the length of the whip is six meters.

  • 2. Profile for fixed screens with coating.

  • 3. A guide responsible for the correct and smooth movement of the sections, as well as regulating their direction and protecting them from falling out. Adapted to -12 mm.

  • 4. Two carriages designed to use sheets ten millimeters thick and capable of withstanding loads of up to 60 kg.

  • 5. Stoppers (left and right). They limit the movement of the rollers and prevent them from slipping.

  • 6. Decorative cover for the track. A camouflage element that gives the product an elegant appearance. The variety of the palette - anodized aluminum, silver and without anodization - makes it possible to match it to the overall design.

  • 7. End caps. Compact plastic items that provide the finishing touch.

All these details are basic. While creating individual projects Installation may require other accessories, such as handles or locks, which can be purchased on our official website.

Advantages

Objects built using “slider” fastenings are safe, therefore they are relevant for apartments where small children or animals live, as well as for public facilities: shopping centers, shops, restaurants, entertainment venues, airports and hotels. Their advantages are based on functional and design features, namely:

  • 1. Long service life. Metal components are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to corrosion and has an unlimited service life.

  • 2. Aesthetic appearance. Elegant fittings blend seamlessly with fragile glass, and the glass structures themselves look very fashionable.

  • 3. Unpretentiousness. tolerates temperature changes and constant humidity, and caring for them comes down to periodic cleaning of dirt and dust.

  • 4. Resistance to deformation. High strength prevents deformation even with a huge mass of canvases.

  • 5. Quiet. Special device moving trolleys promote quiet movement.
