Mother Matrona. So affectionately and almost in a family way they call perhaps the most revered and famous saint. A simple woman, a peasant woman, not literate, moreover, blind, homeless. Since childhood, she suffered hardships and hardships, ridicule. But she accepted all the hardships and hardships of fate as a test of love and faith in the Lord. Being blind from birth, she had a special spiritual vision, helped those who were suffering in illnesses and everyday troubles, warning of impending dangers.

The hard life did not embitter Matryona, but only inspired her to serve God and help people. Such a strength of faith, a desire to help people, to show them the way to God, even being persecuted in the Soviet years, won true people's love.

In the north of Moscow, the foundation of the Church of the Holy Blessed Matrona of Moscow was consecrated. A temporary church operates at the construction site, as modest as Matrona herself was, and creating a very homely atmosphere. And even now the church is not only a place of worship for the saint, but also the center of the spiritual life of parishioners. Worship services are held regularly. You can pray for your family and friends, order a church commemoration, a prayer service in the Church of the Holy Blessed Matrona of Moscow right now.

Priest Dimitry Sinitsyn takes confession and communes patients of City Clinical Hospital No. 81. The parish and young volunteers organize concerts and collect gifts for the sick.

In the temple, classes are conducted at the church school, pilgrimage trips are made, and an Orthodox family school operates. A youth club has been organized, where you can engage not only in the study of the Holy Scriptures, because the church conducts creative classes in decoupage, soap making, and many other areas.

A choir has been created, musical and literary evenings are being held. From an early age, young parishioners learn to help their neighbor - they participate in the organization and holding of charity fairs.

Come, light a candle, honor the memory of Mother Matrona, may your heart always be filled with love and kindness to your neighbor.

How does the Holy Matrona of Moscow help? How to get to the temple in Moscow? How to ask her for help? All this is in our article!

What helps the Holy Matrona?

Transfer in Moscow. Two hours between trains. What can you do? Yes, nothing ... Here you stand, there you stumble in the crowd. And she to Matronushka! The bag is heavy, and the queue for the storage room is not enough. So she with a bag! They said you need to get to Taganskaya ... But where is she, this Taganskaya? It flickers in the eyes, the glasses are weak, it is necessary to be stronger, but extra money does not happen. Muscovites are pushing, scurrying along the subway, they have no time for everything.

- Daughter! - she begged a girl running past with a bright backpack over her shoulders, - I would like to go to Matronushka ... - and she stopped short. The skirt is above the knees, the eyes are painted, such a thing about Matronushka and never heard of.

And the girl:

- You to Taganskaya. Go up this staircase to the Belorusskaya ring road, there is a transition. Walk a little to the Pokrovsky Monastery.

She came running. Gasped from the crowd, not in time, the train ... I rushed to the front rows to beat with my forehead: when I arrived, from the village, the train. And they didn't listen to her.

- Come in, how can you leave Moscow and not bow to Matronushka.

She did it! And so, after returning home and catching his breath from the road, he wrote me a letter to the editor: “To live in Moscow, make me rich, I won’t be able to, running around alone. Muscovites should not envy, but pity them. You poor fellows, to withstand such a rhythm - you must have excellent health. But you have a great prayer book - Blessed Matronushka. The gift of the Lord to Muscovites tortured by fuss. I understood, a sinner, at her relics of the saints - we, Russians, cannot do without Matronushka.

Yes, you won't hide love in your heart for long. She will surely break out of him with a kind word, a grateful look, a gentle movement. It is in this way that the Orthodox fall to the shrine of the blessed Matronushka with care, gratitude and kindness. Queue every day. Quiet, attentive to each other, with flowers. If you stand in it, you will be healed. You will be horrified by your unrighteous heart, everything is wrong, why do I allow life to flow empty and frivolously, why do I not trust the Lord? And she ... She is an ascetic, the great protector of Moscow. She has transformed it, present-day Moscow. The visiting card of the Orthodox capital is a long line to its relics. A little poor old woman, and Moscow bows before her in repentance and hope.

But not a native Muscovite. Originally from the Tula province, from the village of Sebino. Matrona Dmitrievna Nikonova, peasant woman. Blind was born, but only she did not grumble at the Lord, but accepted His holy will, from childhood she was drawn to the Church of Christ. Where are we, sighted, before her spiritual insight. She saw a person through and through, healed, cast out demons, opened the future to people. It would seem much worse: not to see the white light. And at the age of seventeen, Matronushka also became debilitated. And again - meekly accepts a new weakness, does not grumble at fate, does not envy, endures. He knows that God's love is not momentary, He prepares a special path for His Chosen Ones, there is only one privilege in it - the patience of sorrows. They laughed at her, hooted, insulted her, the authorities persecuted her. Wandered from one corner to another. It would seem that unequal forces - leather caps, well-fed scruffs and - an old blind woman, legless, quiet. And how persecuted! Grace is worse for a demon than a red rag for a bull. He knew, the enemy of the human race, what was the strength of a wretched old woman - in a prayer that consumed his unjustly acquired property. They went to her, as they are going now. Village widows and professors, agronomists and party functionaries. On the one hand, take it - unbelievers, and on the other, when it itchs, - what if it helps? Helped everyone. She prayed for husbands who had gone to war, for sons burning in vodka and daughters mired in fornication, for our Mother Russia, exhausted by deceit and trusting not for the future. Her little world - a small bed and the constant darkness of her eyes - the merciful hands of the Lord parted "from Moscow to the very outskirts."

Before her death, she lived in the Moscow region, on Skhodnya, which is along the Leningrad road. Passed away to the Lord on May 2, 1952, fifty years ago. What has changed? As she asked during her lifetime for help to the lost, stumbled, weak, in trouble, she asks now. The fate of the saints - they are always in demand. At first, Matronushka rested at the Danilovo cemetery in Moscow, but it was crowded near her grave for the Orthodox. The veneration of the blessed Matrona became popular. On March 8, 1998, on the week of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, the incorrupt relics of the saint of God were obtained. Then the coffin with her honest remains was transferred to the Intercession Convent.

You can talk about the miracles and prayerful help of the blessed Matronushka for a very, very long time. Books have already been published that cite the facts of the healings and intercession of the blessed Moscow old woman. I myself have observed more than once, standing in line to her relics, how the demons are indignant, incinerated by grace near her holy shrine:
“Don’t torment me, Matrona,” they shout, “I’ll go out, it burns, it burns!”
Recently I allowed myself a little experiment. I called several Muscovites I knew to choose from - did you receive help from Blessed Matronushka? Here are the answers.

- She got me a job, I knocked the thresholds for six months, and came to her, asked ..

- My husband was threatened with surgery, I went to Matronushka, I never sobbed like that, doctors to this day cannot understand anything

- My son fought in Chechnya, so I, as for work, went to the Pokrovsky Monastery, asking for her prayers. Returned...

- My daughter went on a prodigal path, so every day I read the akathist to the blessed Matronushka, begged.

- I changed the apartment only thanks to Matronushka.

Helps everyone. Russian, she feels sorry for everyone. I saw a large purple Negro with a bouquet of flowers in line for the relics. Wind, sleet, and he stands and smiles. Of course, they tried to “split” him. And he says one thing:

We all need. So we go here, to the Intercession Monastery, not always with flowers, but always with sins and requests: deliver, help, tell me, put in a word. How much work does she have? Unthinkable by our human standards. But the saints have their own standards. They have no right to say that they are tired, go on vacation or drive off for a couple of days. Blessed Matronushka is always in Moscow, without a break. And always ready to accept our care and our sorrow. He looks at us from the icon with blind eyes, but her prayer is sighted, the sighted kind and loving heart of the Moscow intercessor, the wise old woman, the great saint. And Moscow, our Mother See, bows its bending knees with difficulty (from pride, from weakness, from unaccustomedness) to the cancer drowning in flowers. And he asks, asks ... And the provincial woman, confused in the bustle of Moscow, happily waves her hand in the direction of Taganka.

- Are you visiting Matronushka? Hurry, there is a special grace.

And whispers confidently:

- You cry and ask, she will not refuse. She refuses no one.

Every religion has its revered saints. They preached the Word of God, were an example of a righteous life. In Orthodoxy, one of these saints is the Matrona of Moscow. Her prayers worked wonders. And today, thousands of human flow brings to Matronushka their problems, hardships, pleas for help and gratitude for the implored miracle.

Brief life of the Matrona of Moscow

The family in which Matrona was born was very poor. There were already three children in the house, so it was decided that the born child would be given to an orphanage. But the mother had a dream in which it was said that the baby must be left in the family. The girl was born blind. Later, the growing child developed problems with the spine. Along with illness, the little Matryona began to show the gift of prophecy and healing. Queues of the afflicted for help lined up for a seven-year-old girl. But the more she helped people, the more she lost her strength and health. By the age of seventeen, the girl could no longer walk.

From 1925 to 1952 Matryona lived in Moscow. She helped war-torn people, brought them back to life. Relatives of those who were considered missing also went to her, and Matrona answered them whether it was necessary to wait for a loved one or whether it was possible to light a candle for the repose in the church.

Before her death, Matrona urged everyone to come to her and talk about their sorrows. She promised that, just like a living person, she would see everyone, hear and help.

Saint Matronushka begged for many miracles for people. She soon responds to the sincere prayers of believers. During her lifetime, she helped everyone with a kind word, and after her death she helps with faith and hope. They pray to the matron for healing from a serious illness, and for financial matters, and for the preservation of the family. There are cases when a prayer to Matronushka helped in the problems of conceiving and giving birth to children.

Until 1998, the relics of the saint rested at the Danilovsky cemetery. And it was here that people from all over the world came for spiritual help. Standing up for the strengthening of the Orthodox in the faith, the Church organized the storage of the relics of Matrona in the churches of the country. Thus, more people will be able to pray at the relics of Matrona.

The relics of the Matrona of Moscow in Moscow rest in three churches:

  • Intercession stavropegial monastery.
  • Church of the Resurrection.
  • Church of the Holy Blessed Princess Euphrosyne of Moscow.

The main shrine with the relics of the saint is located in the Pokrovsky Monastery. It is already popularly called the temple of the Matrona of Moscow. Pilgrims claim that having crossed the threshold of the sanctuary, they already feel peace and tranquility in their souls.

History of the monastery

Until the 17th century, there was a Wretched House on the site of the monastery - a cemetery for vagabonds and the executed. It was this cemetery that was the first churchyard of the murdered False Dmitry. And in the 17th century, after the Tsar's decree banned the Poor House and the foundation was laid for the Intercession Monastery. And after 100 years on the territory of the monastery there was a five-domed cathedral, a single-domed church, a stone bell tower, monastic cells and a theological seminary. In 1812 the monastery survived the French invasion.

With the advent of Soviet power, only the firm position of the parishioners helped the monastery to hold out as a church community until 1929. Since 1923, active attempts were made to close the monastery, in 1926 the bell tower was demolished. After the closing of the monastery in 1929, the place was in disrepair. In 1995, His Holiness Patriarch Alexy I. I. of Moscow and All Russia gave his blessing to the resumption of the Pokrovsky stauropegial convent.

Now the territory of the monastery impresses with its area. Near the entrance to the monastery there is a church shop. Here you can buy icons of Matronushka, literature about her life, prayer books, candles, church oil and other thematic items.

On the territory of the monastery there is a bell tower and a water-consecrated chapel, which is called the Holy Spring. In the chapel you can collect holy water home. There is a refectory in the building next to it. For pilgrims with children there is a playground. There is a hotel at the monastery. All this is done for the comfort of visitors. Pilgrims with children are especially reverent. The temple even has cradles for babies.

The relics of the Matrona of Moscow rest in a special shrine and do not leave the monastery. It is to this shrine that queues line up from the very morning. Another line of people flows to the icon of the Holy Matrona. This icon is a fresco on the wall of the temple, its image goes straight to the street.

Features of prayers to Matronushka

You need to pray to Matronushka from a pure heart. You need to follow some rules:

  • you have to wait your turn;
  • cross yourself three times, you can bow;
  • touch the shrine with the relics first with the lips, then with the forehead;
  • clearly formulate your request (remember that several hundred people are behind you, do not waste time);
  • if you have an icon of a saint with you, then you can attach it to the relics.

Remember that you can go to the saint not only with requests, but also with gratitude.

There is a custom to bring fresh flowers to Matronushka. The decoration of the temple is literally buried in luxurious bouquets. Local ministers are sure to give each visitor flowers that were lit on the relics. These flowers must be dried at home and stored at home next to the icons. Flower petals can be brewed into tea. This tea will have healing power if used with a prayer to the Holy Matrona.

How to get to the temple

It so happened in modern life that the Intercession Monastery in Moscow merged in our understanding into one inseparable concept: help. After all, having come to this particular monastery with faith, love and hope, we receive the care and support we need so much from the holy blessed Matronushka.

The Russian Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich founded the Women's Intercession Stauropegial Monastery near the Intercession Gate as a tribute to the memory of his father, in the service of Patriarch Filaret, who ended his earthly life in 1635. The patriarch died on the Feast of the Intercession, hence the name.

It was a long time ago…

On those lands where it was planned to build a monastery, there has long been a cemetery for the homeless, unidentified people. Such people, who did not accept church repentance before death, could not be buried in ordinary parish cemeteries.

This is how terrible special places appeared: sheds with deep pits. One hundred or two hundred unidentified corpses were dumped into them and covered with earth.

And only 2 times a year the priests buried them. It was here that the corpse of False Dmitry was brought on a collapsing cart intended for manure in 1606 and thrown into a pit with many other disfigured corpses. Therefore, the first time that arose, originally a male monastery, people also called the monastery on Poor Houses or simply the Bozhedomsky Monastery.

Another tsar, Alexei Mikhailovich, completed the construction of the monastery. Money from the lease of these lands to tenants was invested in this construction. For this, among the common people, the monastery was called "room".

In the 17th century, the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Virgin was rebuilt, but already from stone. In the next, already in the 18th century, the newly rebuilt Church of the Resurrection of the Word appeared, and next, by God's command, the bell tower, consisting of 3 tiers, 30 meters high, grew by the hands of Russian masters.

Ups and downs, destruction and restoration

In 1812, Hieromonk Jonah, who at that time was the Abbot of the monastery, probably foreseeing the future outrages here, loaded all the church relics into a cart, took almost all the inhabitants with him and took them away from the city.

The monastery itself was severely destroyed during the war with the troops of Napoleon: the French, who entered the holy monastery land, put horses in the temples, burned and, mockingly, pricked holy icons with bayonets, used thrones as tables.

Shortly after their departure, Elder Jonah returned, and with the help of the inhabitants and the monks, they, as far as possible, restored the monastery for the most part. For this, Jonah was respectfully called the "builder."

Approximately in 1870, the Pokrovsky monastery became a missionary. That is, monks lived and studied in it, who expressed a desire to go to other cities with educational missions after graduation. During its existence, the institute has trained several dozen graduates.

But times have changed drastically. In 1926-1929 they began to close churches, and then the same fate befell the monastery itself. The bell tower was blown to the ground. The cemetery that existed at the monastery was at that time the largest necropolis in Moscow. It occupied an area of about 5.4 hectares.

Many famous residents of the city were buried there. For example, a large family burial of members of the Botkin family, Khludov, a merchant well known for his charitable deeds, the poet Glebov, you can’t count them all….

But, despite this, in 1934, most of the churchyard was simply destroyed, and the Tagansky recreation park, which still exists today, appeared on this site. The monastery land housed a sports hall, a printing house of the then popular printed edition, an extensive film studio, a magazine editorial office and other government offices.

The convent begins to live again

Almost 70 years later, in 1994, the monastery began to revive, but already as a monastery for women. In October 1995, the first service was held in the Intercession Church, which was still in a dilapidated state.

5 nuns with Mother Superior Feofania, the first abbess of the Holy Intercession Convent, prayed and sang themselves during this service.

And the brother of the abbess carefully cut out a new, very first iconostasis from a sheet of plywood, to which paper icons were attached. This is how the first solemn Divine Liturgy took place in the church, which was beginning its second life.

Later, all its buildings and vast lands were returned to the monastery. Everything, except for the one on which Taganka Park is still located.

Over time, in 2002, a stone three-tiered bell tower with a clock was completely restored. It became an exact copy of the one that was destroyed a long time ago: in 1926.

And now 12 bells, with their iridescent, powerful sound that spreads over a long distance, are calling the faithful to Divine Services.

On the territory of the monastery

This is where the shrine is kept.

At the moment, there are 2 large temples on the monastery territory, which are completely restored. Closer to the entrance and the bell tower is the Intercession Church, which has six aisles, and a little further stands the Resurrection Cathedral with three aisles.

At the end of this article there is a map of the territory where you can better navigate the terrain. 🙂

Every day, the Pokrovsky Monastery on Taganka meets thousands of pilgrims who come here from different countries, places and cities. Of those who want to get into this holy place for everyone, long queues line up.

Among other things, such a huge number of people come here also because since 1998, those transferred from the power of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow have been stored here.

Matronushka has helped many people in her amazing life filled with meetings with people. And after her death, those who turned to her with sincere prayers receive an unexpected successful resolution of their difficult life situations.

So people seek Saint Matrona for support, for advice - someone wants to happily marry, get pregnant and give birth to a child, someone has been looking for a long time and cannot find a suitable job for themselves - parishioners turn to the Intercessor with completely different requests.

Let's bow to Mother Matronushka

Arriving at the Moscow Pokrovsky wives. monastery, you will see two very long queues. One of them (it is visible in the first place) leads to the icon of St. Matrona, which is located outside, on the facade of the building of the Intercession Church.

According to the existing unwritten rules, each person can stand near her for as long as he needs to tell about his request. That is, an unlimited amount of time: one, for example, needs 3 minutes, while the other needs a few seconds. But at the same time, no one is in a hurry. Everyone stands and patiently awaits the meeting with the saint.

But that's in theory. In practice, the guards “hurried” the believers so that they would not linger for a long time near the icon. Perhaps this was because it was already evening time, and the territory of the monastery was closed. Even so, the queue moved very slowly.

The second stage starts from the opposite side, where the entrance to the temple is located. Where its ending will be located ... each time in a different way.

The second line moves a little faster, and it leads to the shrine with the relics of St. Matrons. This shrine is located inside the same temple, immediately behind the wall with the icon, to which the first line stands.

There are a few different rules here. Cancer with relics can be applied only for a few moments. There is always a security guard nearby to keep an eye on it. Yes, this is understandable - after all, there are a lot of people, and everyone wants to, at least for a short time, touch the holy relics of the Matrona of Moscow, bow and ask for help.

After you have kissed the relics of Matronushka, you can go to her icon, which is located directly opposite the shrine. It is very large, almost the entire wall, and is decorated with gold items.

There are many gold and silver jewelry: crosses, rings, chains. People bring them as a token of gratitude to Matrona for her help. In general, of course, it is customary to thank if your desire came true, if the prayer was heard.

colorful houses

The abbot's and sister's buildings, in which the sisters of the monastery live, look very elegant. The first one is green

and the second is pink.

And on the lawn between them, I discovered a strange structure on a chicken leg! It turned out that it was just an ordinary bird feeder. But where does this design come from? 😆

In general, I was very struck by some unusual aura of this place. Even nature reflected it very brightly. If behind the fence of the monastery the spring buds on the trees were just swelling, then on the territory of the monastery, literally a few meters from the life of the capital, green leaves were already blooming on the branches with might and main!

Holy water and healing oil

To the right of the monastery churches (when viewed from the entrance), there is a gazebo where you can draw holy water.

If you did not have a bottle with you, then this problem is easily solved. Nearby, in the bell tower, you can buy plastic dishes of various sizes for holy water. The cost of a liter bottle is 30 rubles, and a 5-liter bottle is 50 rubles.

On a vast, well-groomed territory, near the temples, there is a shop, a church shop. Here you can buy various books on religious topics, souvenirs, icons, oil and oil, consecrated on the relics of the Matrona, an amulet with her face, which later, as a talisman or a talisman that brings good luck, it will be useful to carry with you.

How to use Matrona of Moscow oil? It is used in completely different ways. They smear diseased places, wounds; a few drops drip into the bath for both children and adults; To get pregnant, women take a drop on their stomach. There are no strict rules, use the oil as you wish, but only with faith and love. Come in, the store is open from 8 am to 7 pm.

All amenities are provided for guests. Nearly…

The monastery has a refectory where you can have a cheap meal: salads, hot dishes, pastries, cakes.

The assortment is very large: from lean dishes to fast food. And the prices are quite democratic.

A playground is equipped for children. This is a very wonderful idea: after all, parents of children can stand in a long line for several hours. But the guys will not be bored, they can frolic a little here and play with other kids.

There are swings and slides. Nearby there are sculptures of animals and birds. There is a fountain in the meadow.

Walking along the road along the alley, I saw such a flower angel. Probably, this is also a fountain, but it did not work in rainy weather. Apparently, around and so was enough water. 🙂

At the Pokrovsky Monastery there is a five-star hotel "Pokrovskaya", where you can relax in comfort. I do not think that ordinary pilgrims can afford it. A room per day with breakfast will cost from 6 thousand rubles. But the building looks very nice and modern. Especially with night lighting.

By the way, for those who want to stay in this amazing place for a few days, you can choose a more budget-friendly option by booking a hotel room on the website or renting an apartment or a room on the service in any district of Moscow.

Church of Peter and Fevronia

Behind the monastery wall there is another very beautiful church, consecrated in honor of the holy spouses.

The relics of these beloved Russian defenders and patrons of family life are now in Murom, c.

And in the church near the Moscow Intercession Monastery, wedding ceremonies are performed. And this place is very popular with newlyweds: after all, this place has so many patron saints: Matronushka, and Peter and Fevronia. And the city registry office is very close: right behind the monastery wall.

Be sure to go inside this temple if it is open. And even if you can’t pray inside, then outside, right behind the altar, there is a mosaic icon that you can venerate. And, of course, pray to the holy spouses of Murom, whom they lived together all their lives, died on the same day, were buried in the same grave, and even their relics are now in one cancer.

The Church of Peter and Fevronia near the walls of the Intercession Monastery is open daily from 8.00 to 20.00, entrance from the courtyard.

How to do everything

There are special dates in the calendar that are revered in the monastery: November 22, May 2 and March 8. This is the birthday of Matrona, the day of her canonization and the day when the relics of Matronushka became the main shrine of the Intercession Monastery. These days, especially a lot of people gather here, groups of tourists come, so the queues become much longer, and there is a chance that you simply won’t get to the blessed old woman.

Therefore, if, of course, you have such an opportunity, it is better to come to Matrona on weekdays, when there are fewer people and the queues will be smaller.

Sometimes, when the queue to the relics of the saint becomes very large, then the sisters come up to people and offer to do something “for the glory of God”, to help the monastery with deeds: maybe sweep the floor, clean somewhere, arrange flowers and put things in order. Usually, everyone happily agrees. And for this they are then escorted to the relics without a queue.

Pregnant women, mothers with small children, or older people are often skipped in line. But I want to note that not even everyone who can, wants to skip the line. It seems to me that that solemn atmosphere of peace, the spirit of greatness of this very moment that reigns here, inspires by itself. And it's probably not just my feeling.

Yes, and more. If you have been standing in line for a long time and you suddenly need to step away for a few minutes, exchange your phone numbers with neighbors - those who are standing in front of you and behind you. Sometimes the queue moves very slowly, but sometimes it moves very quickly. By calling your neighbor, you can easily find your place and do not miss your long-awaited meeting with the Moscow holy old woman.

And at the end, a little tip. If you want to get to the relics of St. Matrona almost without a queue, then come at the closing time of the monastery. 10 minutes before the end of his work people are still allowed. Then you can stay on the territory freely for some additional time. As the guards at the entrance told me: they do not force visitors out, they are waiting for the last one. 🙂

That's exactly what happened to me: to come almost to the very closing. In the evening, besides rainy, there were very few people. I took a queue to the icon, after that I went inside the temple. I managed to get to the relics of Matrona in 10-15 minutes. After that, after walking a little more around the territory, I returned in the first place. She walked for 20-25 minutes. This is quite a bit: after all, usually people wait here for hours.

Letter to Matronushka

If you enter the Intercession Church, you can see 2 lines inside: the left one goes to the relics of the blessed old woman, and the right one goes to the icon shop. Here you can write notes, order trebs, buy candles and everything you need. Usually, it is very crowded here and you can easily get lost in the crowd.

Therefore, I can advise you to write notes or letters to Matrona with your requests in the nearby Resurrection Cathedral or in an icon shop. There is no difference, but it can be done faster and more comfortably.

What do they write about to Matronushka, in what form? Of course, there are no strict rules for writing a note to the patron saint Matrona. Just write as briefly as possible about the situation you are asking for help with. The most important thing is that the prayer and request be sincere and come from the heart!

Letters and notes can be put in a special bag that hangs next to the relics, as well as with the icon on the street. Every day, in the morning, the sisters bring here an empty bag for notes and appeals to the blessed old woman, and by evening it is almost completely filled with people's pleas for help and intercession.

Flowers for Matrona

Many go to the relics of Mother Matrona with a large bouquet of flowers to thank the old woman for her help in healing, or maybe for the help and advice in something else. During her lifetime, Matrona could not often indulge herself in the smell of her beloved live chrysanthemums and white roses. And now people are coming, bringing her flowers, no matter what.

The main thing is that they should be from a pure soul, from a whole grateful heart. According to the existing tradition, an odd number of flowers are brought to Matrona, like a living person - this is important!

If you have a desire to also bring a bouquet of fresh flowers to Matronushka, then it is very simple to do this. Already near the metro there are sellers with different bouquets, and near the monastery there are several flower shops.

All flowers brought are consecrated by the sisters of the temple near the relics of the saint. Cancer is directly buried in various bouquets, and the smell in the temple from flower aromas is simply heavenly!

When a person leaves, they give him some buds or petals with him. They cannot be thrown away. But what to do with flowers from the Matrona of Moscow? Bring it home and save it somehow: dry it, for example. And then you can use it this way: just carry them with you for good luck (you can put them in your passport or purse).

And if there is some kind of disease, then attach the shrine to the sore spot and turn to Matronushka with a prayer.

There are certain rules here.

And a few more tips, if you will. The church has its own etiquette, its own rules of conduct for parishioners. For example, about how to properly venerate holy relics. Approaching the cancer, you need to make 3 half-length or earthly bows in advance, while being baptized.

When the turn comes, then kiss (kiss) the glass that is above the relics. And remember that you can not kiss the saints on their face. I think everyone understands that a woman should not have makeup on her lips at this moment.

After that, move a little to the side so as not to disturb the others, and make another bow, crossing yourself and reciting a short prayer, if you know.

On the territory of the monastery it is not allowed to smoke, talk loudly, use foul language. And also, it seems, to take pictures. This is the rule I didn't understand. I walked around the territory, filmed everything. There are a lot of guards around, but they were calm about it. And only at the very end, when I was going to the exit and taking the last shots, one of the guards approached me and said that you can’t take photos here, even on the street.

Pets are also not allowed here. Mobile phones are recommended to be turned off.

Well, the dress code should also be appropriate. In shorts, short dresses and without a headscarf (for women) you should not come. Let's follow these simple rules for visiting the relics of the Matrona of Moscow.

Come to the temple, bring any flowers. If you don’t have such an opportunity, turn to Matrona with words of gratitude right at home. She will hear!

Very often, particles of the relics of the Matrona are delivered to various cities far from the capital, so that as many people as possible have the opportunity to bow to the saint and turn to her either with a request for help or with words of gratitude.

Where is it, how to get there

The Temple of the Matrona of Moscow is located at the address: Taganskaya street, 58. Entrance coordinates: 55.73829, 37.67154.

Probably the most convenient way to get to the monastery of St. Matrona is by metro. From the nearby metro stations "Taganskaya", "Ploschad Ilyicha" or "Marksistskaya" you can walk to the monastery in 15 minutes, without hurrying.

It seemed to me the easiest option to get to the monastery in Moscow, where the relics of the Matrona of Moscow are located, is from the Marxistskaya metro station. It is very convenient that there is only one way out of the subway: it is impossible to get lost. 🙂

As you go outside, there will be a huge Tagansky Passage ahead and to the left across the road. The large sign on the roof of this store is easy to see.

There is a stop near the subway exit, you do not need to cross the road. Here you can wait for public transport to drive 2 stops. I went to the monastery on foot along Taganskaya street. The distance to the monastery is about 1 km, which is 10-15 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Somewhere halfway to the right you will see a beautiful white temple. This is the Church of St. Nicholas in Studentsy.

Soon you will see the red walls of the Intercession Monastery.

The entrance inside will be near the Church of Saints Peter and Fevronia. She stays on the right. On the left there will be a multi-storey building of the Pokrovskaya Hotel. Walking a little forward, you will see a guard post where metal detectors are installed. This is the last obstacle on the way to the Intercession Monastery and to Blessed Mother Matronushka! 🙂

But, of course, you can also get to Matrona Moskovskaya by bus, by fixed-route taxi, or by car - as it suits you.

Unfortunately, the monastery does not have its own parking lot. So if you decide to come here by car, then you will have to use paid parking spaces nearby or just leave the car for a while in some courtyard of one of the nearby residential buildings.

On the map you can determine the exact location of all objects on the way to the Monastery of the Intercession, as well as on its territory (press "+" or "-" to zoom in or out).

To conveniently travel around the Russian capital, you can easily rent an apartment or a room in Moscow on a service, or book a hotel in any convenient place.

My trip took place on April 28, 2017. And the next day I went to where the Matrona of Moscow was buried in the last century. And I spent the night in a hotel, from the windows of which there is a delightful view of.

The map below shows other attractions and where I managed to visit.

Where and when was the Monastery of the Intercession founded?

In the old days, the place where the temple of the Matrona of Moscow on Taganka is now located was the cemetery "On Poor Houses" for the executed and wandering people. Later, a merchant stratum emerged from among the common people. She was not respected in the country. Therefore, merchants were also buried in this cemetery at one time.

In the first half of the 17th century, the tsar issued a Decree on the construction of a nunnery here. For a long time he named himself on squalid houses. Under him, a theological seminary was opened. It was a real center of Orthodoxy. Its first destruction and looting was committed during the entry into Moscow of the troops of Napoleon Bonaparte. The second will be discussed further.

Restoration of the monastery after the explosion of the bell tower and the demolition of the chapel

The second wave of destruction and looting of Pokrovsky was much more catastrophic. During the NEP, the chapel was demolished. The bell tower was blown up and turned into ruins. In the premises where the monastic cloisters and auditoriums of the theological seminary were located, the offices of businessmen began to function, entertainment places were created: card and billiard rooms. In the post-war period, the place was in disrepair - until 1994. Then, with the joint efforts of ministers and parishioners, work began to restore the monastic cloisters.

Very soon the Intercession Convent became the most visited place in Russia. Pilgrims from all over the world seek to come here. One of the reasons for such high popularity is the relics of the Holy Matrona of Moscow, who was canonized in 2004.

The holy and blessed Matrona is close and dear to people today

Thousands and thousands of people flow here in two streams. One is sent to the icon located in the monastery courtyard. Another stream of people reaches for the entrance to the temple, where her relics rest. Many bring bottles with them in order to draw clean healing water from the consecrated source.

It is wonderful that regardless of the weather, people patiently and humbly stand in this long queue. They have bright, calm faces even in gloomy weather. They are friendly and welcoming. Western journalists are surprised how much this place changes human behavior. After all, patience, courtesy and courtesy are not characteristic features for the inhabitants of Moscow. Obviously, the life of the Matrona of Moscow still permeates this place with love and kindness. She continues to influence us today and change for the better.

The prophecies of the Matrona of Moscow do not lose their relevance

All the prophecies of the Matrona of Moscow came true. Even as a young maiden, she had already predicted revolution and civil war. In the famine years, her relatives moved her to Moscow. Her healing abilities and gift of foresight were needed here in this troubled time. Many people always came to her to learn about the fate of loved ones, to be healed of an illness or to return strength to life. At the same time, the prophetess worked miracles.

God's gift manifested itself in her from early childhood. Wishing to help the blind daughter, mother and father took her to holy places and monasteries. As a result, at the age of 14, Matrona had a meeting with St. John of Kronstadt, who, by the laying on of hands, blessed her to serve God and people. Her healings occurred as a result of constant prayers to God. She always asked people to take care of their souls, not to turn to grandmas and fortune-tellers.

There is evidence that the special services listened to her prophecies. Popular rumor says that the old woman gave advice to Stalin himself. In this regard, a picture was even painted depicting Matrona and the Generalissimo together. They also talked about the fact that, on her advice, an airplane with Orthodox shrines flew over the city at the most difficult time. Before the decisive battle for the capital, Liturgy was held in all churches and temples, monasticism and priests prayed and fasted without ceasing, day and night. Their efforts brought success, and everyone began to revere and bless the prophetess Matrona.

The blessed old woman predicted her death in advance. At the same time, she made another prophecy, saying that we should all continue to come to her even after her death. She ordered to tell her about all the sorrows, as it was during her difficult, but surprisingly bright life. On the day of the new style, she left our world. Since then, this day has become a day of remembrance of the Matrona of Moscow.

How did the blessed Matrona live?

Blessed Matrona of Moscow was born into a very poor family. Their hut was heated in a black way, and three starving boys were already sitting on the boards. It was assumed that the born child would be given to an orphanage. But just before the birth, the mother had a prophetic dream recommending saving the girl. The born child was blind.

Later, it turned out that her spine began to curve and bulge in the chest area in the form of a cross. But, starting from an early age, the girl began to show the gift of prophecy and healing people. When Matryonushka was seven years old, suffering and sick people were already gathering at their hut, waiting for help from the girl. Thanks to this, the family stopped starving. Grateful visitors brought gifts and food. The more God's talent developed in Matryona, the more the weakness of her body manifested itself. So, by the age of seventeen, a blind girl could no longer walk. She has

After the revolution, her brothers joined the Red Army, so there was no one else to take care of Matryona. The villagers took her to Moscow, which was raging with passions, where she was given shelter, first by relatives, then by many compassionate people. She lived in the capital from 1925 until the day of her death in 1952. Not only Moscow knew about it, but the whole Moscow region. Bedridden, wounded and war-torn people were taken to her, and she helped them return to life. For those who did not know about the fate of the missing relatives, Blessed Matrona answered with precision whether it was necessary to wait and believe or order a memorial service in the church.

After the restoration of the Intercession Convent, it was decided to transfer the remains of the righteous Matrona here. Before her death, she promised that she would always be with us and asked to always contact her, promising that she would take care of everyone who turned to her. Today, many people live in our country who met her personally during her lifetime and received help and support from her. They are living witnesses of this divine miracle. The Temple of the Blessed Matrona on Taganka helps them touch it again and again and get what they expect.
